iRacing Loses IndyCar Licensing – GT Podcast

This episode was supposed to be a best-of-2022 episode. Still, with the breaking news that iRacing will be losing their IndyCar licensing as of January 1, 2023, we had to hold an emergency podcast episode to talk about it.

This was supposed to be an end-of-the-year highlights show, but the surprise notice that iRacing lost its IndyCar Licensing as of January 1, 2023, needed to be discussed.  Erik and D.J. call the emergency podcast to discuss what it means for the future of the NTT IndyCar Series in iRacing, how the licensing impacts the schedule, future updating, and a shock update to the next season of Wednesday Night Dash.  

Finally, we bring back up the often discussed lack of marketing in the IndyCar series and what happens to the series in the future as it slips further and further behind NASCAR and now Formula 1 in the US market.    We also throwback to our past visits to the Indy 500 and how IndyCar can make a few small changes to get the fans re-engaged starting with the crown jewel of the series, the Indy 500.
