D.J.’s First iRacing IndyCar League Win – GT Podcast

iRacing IndyCar League - GT Podcast

In this week’s Garage Talk, we look at D.J.’s Indy Racing World Series iRacing IndyCar League win at Auto Club Speedway. In addition, we also look at the controversial NASCAR finish at Richmond Raceway, and the history of “The Double” (running both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in one day).

D.J. wins at Auto Club Speedway, Controversy at Richmond, The Indy/Charlotte Double

D.J. finally got his first win during the Indy Racing World Series at Auto Club Speedway last Tuesday. A very bold fuel strategy gamble allows him to hold off the rest of the field and snap his iRacing winless drought. We spend the first part of the show breaking down the race on  @Stadiumscene  and D.J.’s mindset during his extreme fuel-saving methods over the last 30 laps of the race.

Next, we move on and discuss Denny Hamlin’s controversial restart during overtime at Richmond. We also discuss NASCAR’s “response” to the call and question what do you do to fix something like that? Finally, as we get closer to May we discuss the drivers who have pulled off the “double” of running both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Kyle Larson looks to become only the second driver to complete all 1100 miles between the two races (Tony Stewart, 2001 being the other). D.J. misread an article and stated Kurt Busch also completed 1100 miles in 2014, but that was not correct.

Finally, tune in for our all-new monthly racing special Saturday at 9am ET on Stadium Scene TV from iRacing Indianapolis Motor Speedway! The F-R Racing Endurance Team will be running monthly races in a GT Sprint-style setup to focus on development and preparation for official events on the iRacing platform. D.J. and Taka will have the call.
