Racing at Martinsville, IndyCar on FOX, NASCAR at COTA, Book Picks – Garage Talk

On this week’s episode of F-R Racing’s Garage Talk, we recap our bad and good week of iRacing including the unexpected challenges of IndyCar at New Hampshire, and surprising results at Martinsville.

Next, we discuss the first week of the IndyCar season at St Petersburg. How was the FOX broadcast? Was it better than the NASCAR broadcast? How was the race itself? What does IndyCar do now moving forward to continue to build on their momentum? Next, we talk about the audible sigh from the NASCAR on FOX broadcast booth when arguably the most important moment of the race at COTA was missed because the camera was blocked by the grandstands. How was the new course setup?

Finally, we discuss the racing book D.J. is currently reading and bring up how we got back into reading now that we’re not obligated to read for school anymore. We share some of our car/racing theme picks including a book about Ross Braun (F1/Ferrari/Braun GP) and how close to financial ruin did Ford Motor Company come in the late 90s/early 2000s?

NASCAR Inconsistencies, Carson Hocevar Makes Friends, IndyCar Preview F-R Racing's Garage Talk

We're back with another episode of Garage Talk! On this week's episode, we kick it off discussing NASCAR continuing to be inconsistent with those last lap yellows, Carson Hocevar having a line of drivers wanting to talk to him post-race, and the upcoming IndyCar Season.First off, we have to lead right into the show talking about the upcoming IndyCar season, FOX announcing the pit reporters for the broadcasts, and previewing the upcoming season. There just appears to be more hype and excitement leading into this season despite not many changes to the series itself.Next, we move on NASCAR throwing a caution on the last lap with an accident behind and ruining another finish. They claim it was in the name of safety, but then again it's the opposite of what they did at Daytona. Carson Hocevar's aggressive driving continues to bring complaints from other drivers including two drivers who have been pretty aggressive early in their careers as well. Finally, we sneak a little F1 talk in since their season will begin soon and D.J. questions Erik for why he scheduled the IRWS IndyCar race at Belle Isle for 45 laps. Recent Race Results

Race: iRacing Daytona 24

Results: Erik Richardson, Hunter Hughes, Ian Miller, and Tyler Vickery ran in the GTP/Hypercar class for the first time in the Ferrari 499P. The real stars of the show was the rain and the new dynamic track debris system that created chaos all over the track. Numerous accidents led to a P9 in class (of 21) and P33 overall (of 58). We look to bounce back stronger at Sebring in March.
