2024 iRacing Daytona 24 Hour Race Preview

As of this posting, the 2024 iRacing Daytona 24 hour race is complete, but on this week on F-R Racing’s Garage talk we sit down with Wednesday Night Dash drivers Tyler Vickery, Colton Gardner, and Hunter Hughes (on the phone) as we discuss the race, variety of experience, and what we’re looking to accomplish with the race this weekend.

iRacing Daytona 24 preview with Tyler Vickery, Colton Gardner, and Hunter Hughes

We have a very full house on today’s episode of F-R Racing’s Garage Talk! Erik and D.J. are joined by not only Wednesday Night Dash drivers, but F-R Racing Endurance Team members, Tyler Vickery, Colton Gardner, and Hunter Hughes (by phone). F-R Racing will be entering two teams into the iRacing Daytona 24 this year and we talk to the drivers about the upcoming weekend. The primary team will be fielding an LMP2 entry and features Erik Richardson, Mark Vicars, Ian Miller, Hunter Hughes, and Tyler Vickery.

The second entry is in the GTP class with Colton Gardner, Andrew Hewitt, Derek Booker (from our BCD series), and newcomers Jackson Wade & Jacob Manning. Tyler has not raced endurance with us previously, but his normal team was unavailable for the event. Tyler has won this event two years in a row and looks to make it three years in a row.

He talks about his experience with settling in as you get into the long hours of the event. This will be Colton’s first long endurance race. He’s spent the last year preparing in GT3 Ferrari Challenges and looks to gain valuable experience. Hunter ran the Daytona 24 last year and the Petit Le Mans in October with F-R Racing. He talks about dealing with the lows of the event when it comes to getting in wrecks that are your fault and ones that are not your fault. Inspiring messages to listen to.
